Membership
Joining is straightforward. If you're a musician, band member, or music teacher in the area, you can apply online or visit our office. We'll guide you through membership options, dues, and what you gain: access to gigs, legal help, and a community that looks out for you. If you're unsure whether you qualify, just reach out — we're happy to help.

Any musician who receives pay for their musical services is considered a professional musician by the AFM — and is eligible to join. That includes performers, teachers, bandleaders, and session musicians. Youth members under 21 and enrolled students at accredited institutions join with no initiation fee.
Annual dues are $121, or $31 per quarter if you prefer to pay quarterly. There is a one-time Local initiation fee of $50 and a one-time federation fee of $65 — both paid at joining. Youth and student members pay no initiation fee.
Local 463 is a democratic, self-governing organization. Members elect officers and an executive board to manage daily affairs. Policy decisions are made at monthly Board meetings and General meetings held two to three times per year — every member has a voice.

The Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF) brings free, live music to communities through festivals, park concerts, and more. The Fund provides grants to members to present these performances alongside a co-sponsor. More info at musicpf.org.
